July 1: Wales v Belgium Betting Preview

Written by

WALES face their biggest game for 58 years tonight – and will need their biggest star to perform at his best.

Chris Coleman’s side have had an easy route to the last four but will be tested severely by a Belgium side who have grown into the tournament after losing their opener to Italy.

That result seemed to be the wake-up call the world’s second best team needed and they’ve won three in a row including convincing defeats of Ireland and Hungary.

Belgium are 4-5 favourites with Betfred but won’t take anything for granted against a side who took four points off them in the qualifiers. Wales are as big as 5-1 at boylesports while the draw is 13-5 at McBookie.

To qualify the Belgians are just 1-3 at Ladbrokes with Wales 5-2 at bet365 and William Hill.

That man Bale made the difference in Cardiff and after scoring in all of the group games he panicked Gareth McAulay into netting the own goal that took the Welsh into the quarters.

Bale is 29-10 at 888sport to net again and 13-2 at to break the deadlock as he did against Slovakia and England.

While Wales have one world-class player the Belgians have several – Eden Hazard, Kevin de Bruyne, Romelu Lukaku and Thibaut Courtois to name a few.

That’s why I think they’ll edge it but it won’t be easy. I fancy both teams to score at 23-20 at William Hill with Wales having netted in all of their games although their meetings in qualifying produced just one goal.

Belgium looked dangerous against Hungary in particular and must be considered at 6-5 with William Hill to score 2+ especially if Welsh skipper and defensive rock Ashley Williams is ruled out.

Lukaku is 4-1 favourite at Ladbrokes to net the opener but I’d side with Hazard, who has looked back to his best, at 6-1 with McBookie.
