Apr 29: English Betting Preview

Written by

IT’S all about the battle to beat the drop today with none of the top seven in action.

Sunderland prop up the table and there’s no doubt they’re the Premier League’s worst side.

Davie Moyes’s men were rubbish again in midweek as 1-0 a defeat at Middlesbrough pushed them closer to the Championship.

The trap door will fully open today if they lose at home to Bournemouth and Hull avoid defeat at Southampton.

It looks as if Sunderland’s players have already accepted their fate with goals in just one of their last nine matches and one point against the likes of Burnley, Watford, West Ham and Middlesbrough.

Bournemouth battered Boro 4-0 last week and can score goals against the poorer sides without worrying too much about what’s happening at the other end.

I strongly tipped Eddie Howe’s men last week and will be on them again at 29-20 with McBookie.

Josh King is 15-8 to net at any time and deadball expert Charlie Daniels could be worth a look at 9-1 with betway.

All Hull’s good work has been done at home – five wins and a draw in their last six at the KCOM and one draw and five defeats on the road.

So Sunderland could get a stay of execution with Southampton, who played well against Chelsea on Tuesday, a best 7-10 at Marathonbet.

The best Premier League games are tomorrow with leaders Chelsea at Everton and second-placed Spurs at home to Arsenal.

Chelsea have lost five of their last six at Goodison but I expect the Blues to pick up the points this time.

Antonio Conte’s men have suffered a couple of blips but back-to-back 4-2 win against Spurs and Southampton will have renewed their confidence.

Chelsea are worth taking at 21-20 with William Hill and having conceded in their last six in their last three back the Blues and both to score at 3-1 with William Hill.

Eden Hazard’s been the Blues’ star turn in recent weeks and is 9-5 at 888sport to score.

Everton will be backed by some at 3-1 with Betfred and Romelu Lukaku is 5-1 at Ladbrokes to net first against his former team.

Full credit to Spurs for keeping the title race alive and they are certain to finish above the Gunners.

They didn’t play well against Crystal Palace in midweek but won and I expect them to do so again at a best 19-20 with betfair.

This fixture has gone over 2.5 goals in seven of the last eight and a repeat is no bigger than 8-13 at Paddy Power.

Harry Kane is my choice to score first at 7-2 with William Hill and Ladbrokes. He has netted in his last four derbies against the Gunners.

In the Championship best bets could be flying Fulham at home to Brentford as they bid to seal a play-off spot.

The Cottagers sit seventh but are bookies favourites to win the play-offs and I can see why. They’ve won four in a row, scoring 13 goals, and were outstanding as they hammered Hudderfield 4-1 away last week.

Fulham are 11-20 with BetVictor so it’s one for accumulators and what about ex-Celt Stefan Johansen to score at 2-1 at 888sport. The Norwegian has netted four in four games to take his season’s tally to 13.

Reading look value at 20-21 with McBookie to clinch their play-off slot as do Sheffield Wednesday at 11-10 with McBookie at Ipswich.

At the other end it’s a straight fight between Blackburn and Birmingham to go down. Rovers could make it interesting by beating Aston Villa while Harry Redknapp’s Brum might benefit from facing a Huddesfield side already preparing for the play-offs.

All the League One games are on Sunday so let’s look at League Two where Doncaster have taken one point in three games since sealing promotion.

They are evens with McBookie to clinch the title with a win at home to Exeter and should get it.
