Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has rejected stories he is trying to force Sergio Aguero and Vincent Kompany out of the club.
Neither player started Wednesday’s 4-0 Champions League defeat at Barcelona, with Kompany not even making the bench.
It has led to suggestions neither player figure in Guardiola’s plans.
“They have a future,” said Guardiola. “Vincent was not perfectly fit. Sergio, I said after, was a tactical decision.”
The Spaniard told reporters they should “call him” before they say he wants Aguero out, adding: “If Sergio decides to leave it will be his decision.”
Guardiola confirmed Pablo Zabaleta and Bacary Sagna will both miss Sunday’s Premier League game with Southampton at Etihad Stadium due to injury.
