Five players have withdrawn from the Scotland squad for Sunday’s final Euro 2016 qualifier against Gibraltar.

Celtic striker Leigh Griffiths and his club-mate Charlie Mulgrew will not feature in Portugal.

Midfielders James McArthur and James Morrison, of Crystal Palace and West Brom respectively, and Blackburn striker Jordan Rhodes also miss out.

The Scots will not be at the finals in France after

a draw with Poland

ensured they cannot reach the play-offs.

Scotland squad

Goalkeepers: Craig Gordon, David Marshall, Allan McGregor

Defenders: Christophe Berra, Gordon Greer, Grant Hanley, Alan Hutton, Russell Martin, Andrew Robertson, Graeme Shinnie, Steven Whittaker

Midfielders: Scott Brown, Graham Dorrans, Darren Fletcher, James Forrest, Shaun Maloney, Matt Ritchie

Forwards: Steven Fletcher, Chris Martin, Steven Naismith, Johnny Russell

Gordon Strachan’s side led the Poles going into stoppage time of Thursday’s match but a late goal from Robert Lewandowski, who had earlier opened the scoring, secured a 2-2 draw for the visitors.

Morrison was suspended against Poland but eligible to face Gibraltar. However, Strachan said before Thursday’s match the 29-year-old may struggle to be fit in time.

Norwich midfielder Graham Dorrans was last week called up following the withdrawal of Wolves’ Kevin McDonald. Dorrans, like McArthur, came on as a substitute against Poland.

Uncapped Graeme Shinnie, who like Mulgrew can play in defence or midfield, was named in the initial squad for the final two qualifiers but the Aberdeen player did not make the match-day squad on Thursday.
