NORMALLY I spend Saturday afternoons watching Clydebank but we didn’t have a game so it was 90 minutes with Jeff and the boys instead.
And while it was just as exciting it didn’t have the happy ending I usually get with the Bankies.
Thirty minutes is a long time in football and for a spell on Saturday my bets were looking really good.
My four aways – paying 51-1 – were all leading and I advised anyone on to them look at cash-out values if available. Then it all went tits up – one of my Super Singles Ross County had their skipper sent off conceding a penalty and went from 3-1 up to draw 3-3 against Dundee United.
I advised covering the draw at 10-1 at half-time but in the end had to put 1pt on a Dundee win just in case.
But the biggest disappointment was Bolton’s last-gasp equaliser against Brighton that denied me even a 25-1 aways treble with Colchester and Arbroath winning.
These are not excuses though – just facts. Red cards, last-minute goals, missed penalties – they are part of football.
My English both teams to score treble came in at 5-1 with a last-gasp Blackburn goal and with 16 of the 18 matches in the Premiership (all over 2.5 goals) and Championship bringing up the market I’d have been disappointed not to land this one.
Just a word of praise for Sean567 who put up a 104-1 btts line from the Premier League and Scottish Premiership and it’s obvious some people were on. As I’ve said before there are many contributors to the football tips as well as myself, Greg, Desmond and Scott and it’s great when someone posts such a wonderful winner.
I did manage a 30-1 first-scorer double on my Yankee thanks to Liam Boyce and Robert Lewandowski. The only loser was Graziano Pelle while Klaas-Jan Huntelaar was a non-runner.
Early this morning I chanced another Super Single with Auchinleck -2 at BSC in the Scottish Cup but the Ayrshire junior giants got it much tougher than expected and were held to a 2-2 draw. I’m blaming this on a bad tip-off (you know who you are) but it was my choice to go with it and the result was a surprise.
Unfortunately, as was the case with the 45-1 draws treble last week the 30-1 doesn’t go in the stats. September’s figures don’t look great but a goal here or there is all the difference.
I’m still sizing up my selections for Sunday and will post when they’re finalised.
September Super Single record
29 bets (11 winners, 18 losers)
50 bets (10 winners, 40 losers)
